I can “adjust the volume” from either the control panel, task bar, or by using the designated FN keys, but no sound comes out.

So, then I went to the HP website, and looked up drivers for this laptop, and found that the audio driver is not listed for Windows Hoping for the best, I pulled up the audio driver listed for Windows 8.

Install it and restart. Device manager seems happy. I can control all of the settings using FN keys, control panel, and task bar, but alas, still no sound from either the speakers or the headphone port. I can see the level meter moving, indicating that it is playing sound, but there is nothing to be heard. I have also tried running the Windows Troubleshooter, and following all of its suggestions to no avail.
