It contains a good balance of project management knowledge and the actual real-life application of theory to the use of Microsoft Project It also has a series of detailed hands-on exercises that layout the exact steps required to master the features and functions of Microsoft Project. Much better resolution than the Microsoft Project edition – The end of chapter quizzes are extremely helpful to reinforce chapter topics and make sure that everything was covered. It was more like a Text book that teaches and Test the knowledge than the reference book to get answers.
In the real world the testing is “Does it work not did I get that question right. The book is sequenced perfectly for someone to teach themselves Project Management. I downloaded the exercises and used all of them following the guides. I looked for a continuing education class before purchasing this book but was unable to find one. This turned out to be better for me.
I will continue to use this book when I’m done as a reference. My boss likes being the only one at work that has all of his projects laid out with a chart and timeline. This is a great book!
I have the Kindle version. There are some weird layout things, and I spotted some things leftover from the previous edition, but they are not very distracting. Love the accompanying answer keys and slidedeck for instructors! As a technical resource and team lead in the IT industry, I’ve been on both sides of a project. I am not a project I am not a project management expert so it was a pleasant surprise that this book started at a very simple level that was appropriate to my lack of expertise with Microsoft Project. As I used the exercises and reviewed the end of chapter questions, I was able to progress into more advanced features as I moved thru each chapter.
